The Sadili camps kick started on high note on the 17/12/12. A lot of energy could be felt all round within the various displines from Tennis, Basketball, Soccer and Rugby.

Undaunted by the heavy rains that fell for the better part of Tuesday morning, athletes at Sadili couldn’t miss an opportunity of taking advantage of training with visiting trainers, Mr. Dan Limbago who is the national manager of National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL), at the United States Tennis Association (USTA), assisted by Sadili Oval’s own; Dr. Elizabeth Odera, (Director of Sadili Oval Sports Academy).

From the Basketball court, Mr. Nick-Caro O’Neil Golding who was an Instructor with MPAC Sports in the U.A.E Dubai (from Chicago, USA) had intense sessions with students who were only eager to fill their curiosity and skill on the game. Their determination written all over their faces was a clear indication of how well they would like to excel.

Speaking to Sadili Oval’s Evelyne Guchura, Mr. Nick-Caro said that he had seen a lot of potential in the Kenyan youth training at Sadili Oval Sports Academy. ‘We need to tap this talent at a young age for the fundamental basics so as to grow the talent in the game with time.’ said Nick. He hopes that during his stay in Kenya, he is going to offer some innovative developments in sports especially starting from the primary schools level, while working together with various partners involved. 

Sadili hosts African Future Stars Soccer Camp

47 selected boys and girls from various communities graduated from this year's summer Future Stars Soccer Camp, which took place at Sadili Oval Sports Academy. The camp, which was run by experienced Sadili coaches, Ladino, Florence and Karis, offered youth between 12 and 16 years with training of international standards. Individual and group performance were taken into account, including specialized training for defenders and goal keepers. The camp is the platform for the formal registration of Sadili Oval Soccer Academy as a member of Football Kenya Federation, and will finally see off a number of soccer players to leagues and abroad. A few select players will gain scholarships to attend the academy partner school, Malezi School in 2013. The names will be announced at the end of the year.

Virgin to Jet In Top Coaches For East Africa’s Top Junior Events

Virgin Atlantic Airways, will be jetting in 3 top coaches on Monday 13th August to provide expertise at a one week training camp in partnership with Sadili Oval. Millfield School the top UK sports school will be bringing in three professional coaches, who will be working with local talent in tennis, fitness and rugby, in what will be one of the best sports camps in the region. In addition Kenya's own International Basketball Proessional Coach, Ronnie Owino, will be heading an excellent local team in running a top performance basketball camp. The camps, which run at Sadili Oval and in Kibera, is expected to bring in about 100 youth aged between 8 and 18 years and will run from 11^th to the 19^th August 2012. Scholarships have been granted to children from around the region. Other sponsors include Sarova Group, Carnivore, Professional Tennis Registry and Dartfish.

Meet the Coaches:

Julie Simkins, Tennis Professional

Julie has been coaching at Millfield for fourteen years and in that time there have been many highlights. Most notably, coaching 2 national champions, winning several national schools age group titles and representing Great Britain at the World Student Games in 2007, as women's team coach. She is a former World ranked player in both singles and doubles (1995-96) and have won 2 conference titles whilst representing Arkansas State and Northeast Louisiana Universities. She now competes in veterans competitions and has had the privilege of representing  Great Britain in the over 35's World Team Championships in 2009. We came fourth.

SADILI SOCCER DOWNS LAVINGTON

Sadili Oval Soccer Academy's John Macharia, led the Under 15 team to defend their title today, with this season at the Left Foot Sports Soccer League that will run through July and August this year, trouncing favorites Lavington Primary 2 -1 in the Under 15, with Macharia netting the first goal and team mate Jama, the second.

The families of three players who excelled in the just ended Kenya/Brazil Football League have every reason to smile after their beloved talents earned an all paid-up trip to Brazil.
The trio, two boys and a girl all under 15 years will leave the country later this year for South America where they will receive advanced soccer training at the Palmeiras Sports Academy in Brazil.
John Macharia from Korogocho village, Kevin Owino (Kibera slums) and 13 year old Elizabeth Majuma from Kibera were all smiles when their names were picked by the Brazilian Football instructors who have been in the country for the last 10 days.

Elizabeth Majuma was unable to control her delight.She said the trip to Brazil would open new doors for other players. The Standard seven girl from Kibera’s Toy Primary school said she was overwhelmed and felt humbled when she was named among the top three for the Brazil trip.

"I had no doubt I will be picked since I have all the attributes of a soccer player. I can run for two hours non-stop with the same speed. I do dribble very well and even beat boys in their own game. I have won several trophies in football since I play for my school team. it was not a surprise,” quipped a delighted Majuma.

She paid tribute to Sadili Oval Academy for initiating youth tournaments adding that she never dreamt of meeting World greatest tennis player like tennis legend Serena Williams.

"Through Sadili Oval Academy, I was able to meet and greet Serena and other great elites.I sincerely thank Sadili Academy Director Dr.Liz Odera who has transformed me and others to become young celebrities.I believe in few years, I will be splashing headlines in your local newspapers,” she said jokingly.

          The Undugu society Grounds and the Sadili Oval sports For Life Programme pitch will open up to intense and thrilling boys’ soccer action. 21 boys’ teams from Kibera and 3 from kisumu have already confirmed participation in this version of the Brazil- Kenya Football league which is run by Sadili Oval Sports Academy, and sponsored by the Brazilian Embassy,BrazAfric, Carlsonwagonlit and East Africa Brazil among other companies.

           The Sadili Sports For Life pitch plays host to sizzling Under 15 boys’ soccer action this Saturday 5^th March. It seems a tricky draw in Pool A when Olympic Talented meet Kibera Roma. The sights in Pool B shall also be beautiful to capture on Camera when the Young Super Eagles from Kichinjio meet against the Rough and tough More Fire. Hosts Sadili Sports for life are expected to meet the Rusinga school in Pool C and the feared Nyanza would meet stiff opposition from Lexus and Nyanza. Place your bets for the following teams..Olympic talented, More Fire, Sadili Oval Sports for life and Nyanza.

          The Undugu pitch formerly the shores of the once serene Nairobi dam would be sprayed with matches pitting Pool E,F,G and H. Bob Silingi’s charges, the Atlas Lions would have to dig deeper to win their opening match against Junior Kings. Sadili’s Third tier team, Sadili Riverside shall also be expected to rise up to the occasion in this Pool of uncertainties. Lindi’s Fc 2 ZERO,Young Talents and Barcelona in Pool F? My money would be placed on the Young Talents side of the scale. Tsunami and Sadili’s 2^nd side Nature and Sports are set to fight it out in Pool G where chances are high that either of the two could ensure that the black panthers finish bottom of the table...but that is just my opinion. Long time Publicity and Hullaballoo on Shofco Juniors would be their only support when they meet a spirited outfit in the name of Awimbo coming all the way from the Lakeside city of Kisumu. Foundation of Hope is also in this pool of Death but who knows? Maybe their absence from top flight Kibera football may have given them the time to regroup and form a formidable regiment that would see them book the quarter final and final berths to be played at the Undugu grounds on Sunday 6^th March 2011 starting at 9am.
