FREE SPORTING ACTIVITIES : DESPITE THE FLOODS, SADILI OVAL IS OPEN

WE HAVE PUT IN THE WORK, SADILI IS OPEN!

***

A Letter To The Sports Enthusiasts.

The heavy rains experienced currently have become a menace to the livelihood of every Kenyan. Most parts of the country experienced floods that came with the loss of property and sadly loss of lives. As a result, normalcy was disrupted and everyone in the country including the government had to reset to cope with the new state of affairs.

However, amidst the floods, Sadili is very much open and welcoming to everyone, especially Sports enthusiasts. We are very grateful that the floods were contained and most of our surfaces remained usable in this period although the normal programming of activities has been affected. Our weekly timetable of activities designed for club members has been greatly disrupted. This is due to the difficulties our members faced caused by the current floods.

But, with great joy, we wish to inform all tennis players and lovers that our tennis courts are drained and in good and playable condition.

As the last drop of the rain fell yesterday, matches go on our hard courts. This goes for our basketball court, which is dry, and waiting for basketball lovers to come to it.

The Sadili gym is open for membership subscriptions to the public. Our gym is fully equipped, spacious, and with a comfortable wooden aerobics floor. The trainers are available and offer a wide range of activities like dance aerobics, strength training, weight loss exercises, yoga, boxing, body-building, and personal training.

Sadili swimming pool is always open to the public. Non-members are also welcome to pay daily rates while members swim for free. As shown in the attached photo the pool is the cleanest you can find around.

Yes, there have been heavy rains, and livelihoods have been disrupted but let us all not forget the importance of healthy living. Sadili Oval Club sporting facilities are here to help you achieve the healthy life that your body deserves. Welcome all!

WHY KIDS LIKE SPENDING THEIR HOLIDAYS AT SADILI OVAL SPORTS ACADEMY. DISCOVER THE SECRET BEHIND IT!

APRIL HOLIDAY CAMP JUST ENDED, WHAT NEXT?

SAFARI JUNIOR --August

Are you Looking for a sporting Hub?

Come to Sadili Oval Sports Academy in Langata where the scarce sporting ecosystem brings comfort, nurtures dreams, and builds skills. Sadili Oval hosts camps for kids from 12 to 17 years of age and engages them in tennis, basketball, soccer, and swimming activities. This keeps the teenagers occupied with productive activities that help them develop new skills.

It is apt to say therefore that if you don't want your kids roaming around the neighborhood absorbing bad habits, wasting their brains, and probably engaging in drugs, give Sadili Oval a call.

Holiday Camps

Our camps come up mostly during the April, August, and December holidays. During these times, kids are drilled in the aforementioned sports disciplines that help them learn while having maximum fun. The camps are also meant to help the kids do extracurricular activities other than bookwork and also ensure they do not engage in activities that may risk their well-being e.g. drug and substance abuse.

In April 2024, Sadili Oval Sports Academy hosted a kid's holiday camp from the 8th to the 26th. Participants were allowed to engage in all the sports listed above according to the weekly timetable provided. The camp ran during the week days with the morning session starting from 9am to 12 noon while the afternoon session started from 2pm to 5pm. The trainings were conducted with the club's selected coaches and trainers under the guidance of the club's Director and sports enthusiast, Dr. Elizabeth Odera.

As can be seen from the photos, the camp gives an all-round sporting experience to the kids while at the same time allowing them to enjoy themselves and have fun.

TESTIMONIALS

According to Mwangi, one of the parents who enrolled his kid,

“ The camp is a good idea since where we live is so congested with people and kids do not get enough spaces to play in. Additionally, the coaches here are wonderful people with just the right skill sets to conduct such activities. Also, we as parents are most of the time away doing other things so bringing the kids here knowing that it is a safe space gives me peace of mind.”

Also, take but the words of a participant amongst others, Machel, who said

“I have been coming to Sadili as a member even during the school days but the camp is whole different experience. The number of kids who attend the camp is slightly higher than those who are enrolled as members and that makes the activities more fun. Also, the activities are spread across the week so one can come any day anytime.I have made new friends which is a good thing”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Let your kid attend the next camp.

The next camp is in AUGUST 2024. I will be titled SAFARI JUNIOR which will be bigger and better because it will bring kids across the East African Countries.

We would like to welcome you all to this events-filled experience as we look forward to hosting a bigger team with many more activities and fun.

ANOTHER DANGEROUS FLOOD STORMS KENYA CLAIMING HUNDREDS OF LIVES AND DESTROYING PROPERTIES (2024)

THE KENYAN FLOODS AND IMPACT EVEN ON EDUCATION

****

A Natural disaster has broken its way into the daily lives of Kenyans again. Many parts of Kenya have been experiencing heavy rains since the 18th  of April 2024.

As one can see in the images, the heavy rain has led to floods leaving many people in distress following the ruins it has caused. The capital city, Nairobi and its surroundings, have been severely affected by this merciless flood. Low-income areas in Nairobi like Kibera, Mathare, Githurai, and Mukuru kwa Njenga have been severely affected due to lack of solid structures, poor drainage systems and infrastructures, and congestions. This leaves people homeless and at risk of contracting diseases like cholera, typhoid and diarrhea.

                                       ***

Additionally, the Nairobi River and Athi River both broke out of their banks sweeping away houses along their paths and damaging nearby neighborhoods leaving about 40,000 people displaced and homeless.

A total number of 17 bridges have been destroyed, making it hard for people to cross from one side to another. In Mai Mahiu, about 60 kilometers from Nairobi about 50 people died after being swept away by the heavy rains as they slept at a dam nearby. Generally, across the whole country, over 180 people have been reported dead.

In the North Eastern part of Kenya where the main source of income is the keeping of livestock, the residents have lost their source of livelihood watching their cattle swept away by the oceanic rains.

The families in this part of the country also face displacement. While some of them camp along the Garissa-Nairobi highway, some people have camped at a nearby school, Jaribu Primary School to seek refuge.

Farmers across the country lament their losses as they watch their crops flowing with the waters. They report that this comes after they have heavily invested their resources in buying seeds and fertilizers. Just when the crops were looking healthy, and they hoped for a better harvest. This is like a nightmare in their eyes.

Due to the continuous rainfalls, the Cabinet Secretary for Education issued a statement that schools that were to re-open for the second term on 29th April 2024, now re-opens by the 6th of May 2024 hoping that the rains would have reduced. Some schools have been destroyed and brought to ruins. Even after the 6th of May, schools in some parts of the country like Busia County will not be able to open because the classrooms are left in bad conditions.

The government has made the public to understand that they are looking for ways to help the affected families and schools for life to return to normalcy.
