Malezi Takes Early Lead At County Basketball Championships

The Malezi Varsity team showed just why they were District Champions of Lang’ata, playing two games and winning both, against Pumwani and Our Lady of Fatima, respectively.

Sadili Basketball was at Railways Club, Nairobi for the first day of the Nairobi County Championships, to support Malezi High, the resident high school team. Top District Teams from around Nairobi showed up to compete for the title and the opportunity of representing their schools, districts and themselves at the National level.

Malezi 49  Pumwani 9

The first bout was against Pumwani School, in which the Malezi varsity team scored 49-points to their 09-points in a smooth victory for the top guns.

John Madol    13-points, 4-rebounds, 2-assists

Samuel Mwalo           10-points, 8-assists, 4-steals

Lual Mathiang           10-points, 3-steals, 3-blocks

Malezi 53   Our Lady of Fatima  11

In the second game of the day the Malezi Varsity team went out with enthusiasm and purpose, going up 10 quick points in the first 3-mins of the game and never lost steam. They continued their exhibition of skills and teamwork by finishing the game 53-11, in Malezi fashion.

Samuel Mwalo           15-points, 3-assists, 2-rebounds

John Madol                8-points, 4-assists, 5-steals

Moving on towards greatness the Malezi Team is scheduled to play today morning at Upper Hill High school for the Semi-Finals of the Championships.

Malezi Basketball Grabs Chance To High School Finals

The stage was set at Sunshine Academy today for the semi-finals of the Lang’ata District. Malezi High, St. Aloysious, Lang’ata High, Olympic and Light Academy were the teams present to fight for their place in the finals.

The Malezi Varsity, Langata District favourites, came out the gates with fire in their eyes and clearly something to prove. Eddy Amos (PG/SG), freshman, had his first high school basketball depute today verses the St. Aloysious team; stepping in for Captain Zack Okong’o who had an ankle injury and is out of action for the District Play-offs.

With their leader out one knew how Malezi would respond, but respond they did scoring a convincing 94 points against their opponents; ending the game with a 94—04 vicotry over the St. Aloysious.

Fred Odhiambo (F)   28-points, 15-rebounds, 2-blocks

John Madol (SG/SF)  18-points, 8-rebounds, 9-assissts, 8-steals

Lwal Mathiang (SF/F)          16-points, 17-rebounds, 3-steals

Samuel Mwalo (PG/SG)        16-points, 8-assissts, 7-steals

The District Final Game tips off tomorrow at Sunshine Academy, where the Malezi Varsity team will continue their wins streak and attain District bragging rights and title.
